Desktop/Network/Webmaster Specialist

The Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) is a small state agency located in Olympia that provides leadership, advocacy and services to support public school directors’ efforts to improve student learning.  Serving 1,477 locally elected school board members, WSSDA has an outstanding record of service.  The Association seeks a Desktop/Network/Webmaster Specialist to direct and provide support of WSSDA’s information technology services and infrastructure.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for managing all operational aspects of Information Technology for WSSDA.  This includes network, desktop, and technical support for all operational systems for both hardware and software.  Responsibility also includes website, web content, and internet management and maintenance.

Required Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows XP, Server 2008, Windows 7, and local area network administration.
  • Administer disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Server, workstation, and printer deployment and set-up.
  • Microsoft Exchange Outlook 2010 support.
  • Oversees WSSDA’s database system and associated modules.
  • Oversees WSSDA’s software and hardware training and support.
  • Maintain Microsoft SA software licensing.
  • Oversees WSSDA’s telecommunications needs including data and voice.
  • Manage communications (e-mail) and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, and agency Web site and internet applications.
  • Active Directory and security management.
  • Perform backups and restores.
  • Serve as the WaServ (Vault) administrator involving e-mail collection to be archived at DIS Washington State Consolidated Technology Services.
  • Provide technical assistance to WSSDA staff and Board of Directors
  • Keep an updated inventory of all computer hardware, software and electronic equipment.
  • Perform administrative duties such as hardware and software procurement, budgeting, network documentation, and assessments as needed.
  • Perform the duties of Webmaster and ability to work with Web content management systems with experience using DotNetNuke or similar systems.
Essential Functions:

  • Work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines and at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Be available for evening and weekend work, and travel by air and automobile, maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing, through computers and telephones.
  • Maintain regular and timely work attendance, and availability as work load and assignments require.
  • Engage in appropriate and consistent professional development.
  • Oversee project management for technology issues.
  • Write support documents, documentation, and user guides.
  • Provide superb customer service, technical expertise, and consultation.
  • Able to lift heavy computer equipment.   

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • B/A or B/S degree in computer science or closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional-level experience as an IT manager or specialist.

Compensation:

  • Depends on qualifications
