WSSDA’s Online Board Self-Assessment is a user-friendly tool that helps school boards assess and strengthen their performance in governing for improved student learning.
Research-based and scientifically validated, the assessment tool is designed by board members for board members—and is available at no charge to school districts throughout the state.
The online tool offers a straightforward way for each board member to assess his or her board’s performance based on governance standards and best practices. The feedback from each board member is combined into a customized report that provides a clear, concise view of how the board views its performance in specific areas.
This report becomes a powerful tool to measure growth and set goals for strengthening board practices. It promotes a cycle of continuous improvement in board governance, all directed toward advancing student achievement.
A resource guide accompanies the report to assist you in understanding and using the data to build goals. A detailed analysis and interpretation is available through WSSDA’s Board Consultancy Services.
Developed through funds from the Stuart Foundation and in partnership with The BERC Group and Anderson Data Solutions, the Online Board Self-Assessment has been tested and refined through pilot projects involving school boards and superintendents. It represents a cutting-edge approach to helping boards evaluate and improve the way they govern for student learning.
Your district received a link to its personalized assessment. WSSDA will send this link each October, or the board president may contact us at any time to request board access to the self-assessment survey.
If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to take advantage of this extraordinary tool for building student success in your district.
