Leadership Development

WSSDA offers training programs, events and tools developed to maximize leadership and governance abilities for improved student learning. These services provide practical strategies and resources to help your board and superintendent function as a high-performing team. 

Because WSSDA is the only organization representing the school board/governance perspective in the state’s public education system, we are uniquely qualified to provide training for school directors. Our Leadership Development programs are based on the Washington State School Board Standards and are designed from the viewpoint of the board’s governance role.

Services and resources to help your leadership team accelerate student learning in your district are available throughout the year:

• The WSSDA Annual Conference brings school board directors, student board representatives, superintendents, and other education professionals together to share insights and discuss ways to improve public education. The conference is held in November.
• Customized in-district workshops and retreats.
• WSSDA Regional Meetings offer opportunities for dialogue, networking and the sharing of information with fellow school directors from their region. These meetings also allow WSSDA to deliver comprehensive, accurate and timely information on education issues to its members.
