Open Government Training for School Directors

General Information

Every school director must complete training on the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), Public Records Act (PRA) and records retention within 90 days of taking the oath of office following appointment or election.

In-person training sessions are offered in various places across the state. Sessions usually last 90 minutes and cover all necessary training mandated by law. The Washington Attorney General’s Office has training available online. WSSDA conducts a qualifying training session during its Annual Conference each November following the New Board Boot Camp early bird workshop.
