Registration is now open for two online
courses offered by WSSDA through the association’s continued
partnership with Seattle Pacific University.
“Community Engagement and Stakeholder Linkages”
runs Sept. 24–Nov. 9. This course focuses on how to engage the
public in a community conversation, develop a strategic
communication plan, present data persuasively, deal with the media
effectively, and build relationships with stakeholders.
“The Key Work of School Boards and
Administrators,” which runs Sept. 24–Dec. 7, examines a systems
approach to improving student success using the eight elements of
the Key Work model: vision, standards, assessment, accountability,
alignment, climate, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Both courses are part of the curriculum leading
to attainment of WSSDA’s Boardsmanship Mastery Award.
Board members and administrators who
participate in WSSDA’s online program receive high-quality training
at a very reasonable cost, plus they enjoy the added benefit of
learning at their own pace and networking with fellow participants
from the comfort of their own homes.
The cost for each course is $95, which includes
continuing education units, or clock hours, or $160 for three units
of academic college credit. Participants must also purchase the
books that accompany each course.
The deadline for registration is Sept. 17. To learn more,
contact Connie Lauderdale at 360/252-3009.
