The Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) provided two important documents to school directors this week. The documents are essential tools to aid the legislative advocacy work of school boards.
First, directors received a one-page overview of the highest ranked positions
. School directors are encouraged to share the one-pager with legislators as they host them during school visits or hold meetings together.
Second, school directors also received a complete listing of all WSSDA legislative positions
as ranked by participants in WSSDA's legislative assembly earlier this fall. The complete listing includes more detail and context about each position.
To further support school directors, WSSDA is developing a summary of points to make when communicating about the three categories of WSSDA priorities. Those categories are student safety and support, staffing needs, and funding model equity. A simple postcard is also in the works. Because lawmakers are busy absorbing information about a variety of important issues, the postcard is designed to provide a quick, convenient glance into WSSDA highest priorities.
