Open Government Training for School Directors

Every school director must complete training on the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), Public Records Act (PRA) and records retention within 90 days of taking the oath of office following appointment or election.

There are two ways to complete the legal requirement for this training:

Online Training

In-person Training

WSSDA provides a qualifying training session during its Annual Conference each November immediately following the New Board Boot Camp pre-conference workshop. Instruction is provided by the Washington State Attorney General’s office. A certificate of completion will be emailed to those who complete the full 90-minute training.

In 2021, the Open Government Training will be held during Annual Conference on Thursday, November 18th at 4:45-6:15 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. There is no cost for this session and you are not required to attend a pre-conference that day. Pre-registration is highly recommended and is available here:
