Learn, grow, and prepare at the 2022 Legislative Conference

Registration is open for the 2022 WASA • WSSDA • WASBO Legislative Conference, taking place virtually on January 30, from 1-5 p.m.

Legislative Conference is an opportunity for embers of these associations to hear updates on our shared legislative priorities, the current education budget and policy landscape, and how to effectively advocate for our collective needs. All members are encouraged to join with their colleagues for this important event!

What to expect

Speakers at the conference will include Governor Jay Inslee, State Superintendent Chris Reykdal, and state legislators. Attendees will also hear from keynote speaker Shankar Vedantam, host of the Hidden Brain Podcast.

Attendees can also look forward to learning about advocacy efforts from our association presidents, student voice and their advocacy efforts, current legislative priorities and advocacy hot topics.

Keynote Speaker–Shankar Vedantam, Host of the Hidden Brain Podcast

Shankar will will draw a connection between our legislative advocacy and scientific studies that examine how our unconscious biases―what he calls the “hidden brain”―affect the decisions we make as individuals, groups, and organizations.

Regional Planning Meetings and Week on the Hill

This year, Regional Planning Meetings will occur before the conference and will be organized by legislative district. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the conference’s “hot topics” and coordinate logistics for meetings with legislators.

Our Week on the Hill meetings with legislators will be held via Zoom. The meeting schedule will be posted in early February.
